​Anastassis is a Psychologist, Systemic & Family Psychotherapist and registered Clinical Supervisor working therapeutically with adolescents, individual adults, couples, parents and families in various contexts. He supervises and trains clinicians in different theoretical and clinical approaches. He is based in London and in Athens and he consults with teams in the national health service in both the UK and in Greece.

He worked for four years at the Gender Identity Development Service at the Tavistock, in London, where he established and led the first Family Therapy & Consultation Service in the NHS for gender-questioning young people. He resigned from GIDS as he disagreed with the lack of a therapeutic model in understanding gender identity difficulties and he later developed the Gender Exploratory Model / Theory. He has many years of experience working in the NHS, in generic Child & Adolescent and Eating Disorders services, such as the Maudsley Centre for C&A Eating Disorders. 

Anastassis holds an MSc and a PGCert (with distinction) in Systemic Family Therapy from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London, an MSc in Psychology from Westminster University, an MSc in Organisational Management from Imperial College London and a BA in Communication from the National University of Athens. He has an additional PGCert in Systemic Family Therapy Supervision, Consultation and Teaching from the Tavistock Centre and offers supervision and consultation to other training and registered clinicians.

He is research active and is currently studying towards a PhD in Psychology – King’s College London, focusing on the relationship between early gender non-conformity and later-onset eating disorders. Anastassis is registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association for Family Therapy (AFT).

He has worked therapeutically with hundreds of gender-questioning and trans-identified young people and adults. He has also worked therapeutically with desisters in the NHS and privately, and with detransitioners in private practice and he believes all these groups deserve better care.
